Planning for the unexpected

add energy offers courses in blowout contingency planning

add energy has for quite some time offered the two day NORSOK D-010 course. Our course lecturers have been central in the NORSOK committee, and the course has proven to be very popular amongst operators, service companies and regulators.

In addition to this, the well control and blowout support team now offer a full one day course in Blowout Contingency Planning. The first course was held in August by Thomas Selbekk in Perth, Australia for NOPSEMA (National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority) employees. In November, Selbekk held a condensed half day version of the course for AMOSC (Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre) in Fremantle Australia and on 9th December Selbekk and Morten Haug Emilsen lectured for a class in the add energy offices in Forus, Stavanger. The course, that gives a thorough introduction to flow theory, blowout and kill simulations, contingency plans and relief well design, has proven to be very popular in the industry and the plan is to offer the course on a regular basis. Depending on demand, the course will also be held in the US, UK and South East Asia in addition to Norway and Australia.
