01 Oct 2019

Add Energy’s head of Well Control, Morten H. Emilsen, represented Add Energy on the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Calgary September 30 to October 2nd .

The paper SPE-195961-MS “A Case Study Demonstrating Single Relief Well Contingency for a Prolific Gas Well in Ultra-Deepwater” kicked off the technical program of the conference on its first day. The paper describes how the Relief Well Injection Spool (RWIS) technology enabled drilling of a deep water well in compliance with operators and regulatory requirements and prevailing standards.

The interest in this technology, which is jointly developed by Add Energy and Trendsetter Engineering, is overwhelming and we observe that this is becoming an integral part of relief well contingency plans going forward. The impact on safety is considerable and the cost saving potential with this technology is sky high, says Mr. Emilsen after his talk on Monday morning.
