Well Integrity

Prevention of an uncontrolled release of underground fluids to the environment

Reduce the likelihood of an uncontrolled release

Protect the safety of your people, assets and our environment

Avoid costly and reputational damage associated with incidents

Assure compliance with local and corporate standards, regulations and legislation

Identify possible risk and put mitigation measures in place to eliminate it

Ensure a competent team to effectively manage and mitigate risks

Add Energy’s well integrity experts assess procedures and processes relating to the prevention and mitigation of an uncontrolled flow from wells to protect life, assets and the environment.

Well Integrity Management System

Add Energy provides a complete well integrity management system that is compliant with applicable standards and legislation.

Well Integrity Assessment

Our experts perform technical integrity assessments of the well barriers and their components in order to categorize the wells and identify risk mitigation requirements.

Well Integrity Examination

We compare the well- , casing- and tubing design basis and develop programs with recognized standards and guidelines (NORSOK D-010 / UKOG Guidelines / ISO) to measure compliance, identify gaps and propose solutions to enhance integrity.

Well Integrity Investigation

Our team of specialists conduct thorough technical investigation of incidents through interviews, assessment of reports and calculations to identify the cause, and provide recommendation actions to prevent incident reinsurance.

NORSOK D-010 Well Integrity Training

Increase competency around the fundamentals of well integrity measures aligned with the NORSOK D-010 well integrity standard, which focuses on the establishment of well barriers and well barrier elements to prevent loss of integrity.

Advisors, Specialists and Consultants

Add Energy provides subject matter experts and specialists to work as integrated members of our client’s team, in the office, on the rig or at the well site. This solution has been designed to enhance the competency of your workforce, provide expert advice or manpower required to deliver well integrity management programs.

"Add Energy’s well integrity consultant conducted an analysis and assessment of our existing well integrity management system, and provided recommendations for improvement that were implemented at a corporate level"

Project Showcase: Well Integrity Investigation

Following a significant loss of 28 rig days due to a gas leak from the well, Add Energy was contracted to conduct a technical investigation of the planning and execution performance of a plug and abandonment exercise of the subsea exploration well.

What We Did

We collected and analyzed data and conducted interviews to compare plans and execution performance versus requirements in the local regulations, the client’s Management system and the NORSOK D-010 Well Integrity standard.

The Result

The planned plug and abandonment design solution was found to be non-compliant with NORSOK D-010 and improvements to the client’s Well Barrier Philosophy were recommended by Add Energy.

How to reduce response time when the unthinkable happens

An uncontrolled hydrocarbon release is one of the worst possible scenarios that an operating facility can experience. Not only are the safety barriers compromised, exposing the asset and people to significantly more risk, but the economic, business and environmental consequences can be detrimental.

A closer look at the RWIS design, how it works and the benefits that can be unlocked

Drilling and extraction of hydrocarbons is a complex and risky process, and operators must have robust safety assurance and contingency measures in place to mitigate danger, efficiently respond to any incidents and reduce the personal, business and environmental impact if an uncontrolled release were to occur.

In certain regions of the world, and for some operators, regulations and internal procedures mandate that fields cannot be developed unless the operator can demonstrate that the well can be intercepted and controlled via a single relief well drilling operation, as opposed to multiple relief wells, which is usually the norm.

Preventing a blowout while maximising flow: insights from our EVP of Well Control, Morten Haug Emilsen

Safety is always the number one priority in drilling operations, but this can often impact an operator’s ability to reach their targets and optimize future production. However, there are ways engineers can increase the efficiency of field development and maximise production, without compromising safety.

Relief Well Challenges and Solutions for Subsea Big-Bore Field Developments

Production optimization with less CAPEX is an ever-growing quest for many operators. Not only are operators focused on maximizing flow rates through larger bores, but they want to achieve this with less investment.

Whilst production optimization creates significant cost benefits for a business, it is critical to note that additional risks are introduced when bigger bores are developed. These include, but are not limited to:
