Well Management

Materializing well design, safely and efficiently

Reduce costs associated with drilling and well management

Ensure contracts are set up to optimize expenditure, assure quality and timely delivery of services and equipment

Assure sufficient and safe programs and procedures are implemented

Identify and effectively manage any risks associated with operations

Assure compliance with legislation and standards

Minimize environmental impact and risk

We specialize in managing well construction operations: onshore and offshore; in shallow and deep water; and in remote locations. Our personnel are highly experienced in working in unfamiliar environments, and in dealing with the logistical issues that can arise.

Drilling and Well Management Programs and Procedures

We develop detailed programs and procedures for execution of operations: rig move; drilling; casing running; cementing; logging; well testing; completion; and plug and abandonment.

Risk and HAZOP Assessments

We facilitate and conduct risk and HAZOP assessment of design and planned operations together with the service providers and client’s representatives, and manage these throughout execution.

Applications and Reporting

We author the applications for approval to conduct drilling and well operations from the authorities, monitor compliance and report when required.

Contracting and Procurement

We assist the client in obtaining good contracts and efficient procurement to ensure competitive pricing, timely delivery and quality of services during execution.

Logistics and Coordination

We have experience from conducting logistical operations in remote locations. Efficient coordination of logistics saves costs and reduces environmental impact and risks.

Budgeting and Cost Control

We compose the budgets and AFE cost estimates for the specified activity based on our cost database, vendor proposals and client’s contracts. Invoices are controlled and disputed if in error.

Emergency Response

We source and train an emergency response team in how to react to a range of incidents and accidents.

Advisors and Consultants

We supply our clients with our technical experts to work as integrated members of our client’s team on an ad-hoc basis.

“We were able to gain full visibility of risks associated with the design phase of our field development by the insights provided by Add Energy. We were then able to put mitigation measures in place to avoid incidents.”

Project showcase: Well management for Carnarvon Hibiscus Pty Ltd

What We Did

Our well engineering team provided technical and procurement support during the initial planning phase of the first operated offshore exploration well in Australia, Sea Lion-1 well in VIC/P57.

Add Energy also mobilized a team to handle responsibilities such as; final preparation of programs and procedures; contracts and logistics management; permitting and interaction with the authorities and regulators; operational management of the drilling operations conducted with Seadrill’s West Telesto- jack-up; and final close-out of the drilling campaign.

The Results

An operational success delivered within budget and with:

  • ZERO lost time incidents
  • ZERO environmental incidents

Top considerations for an effective blowout contingency plan

A well thought out blowout contingency plan (BCP) forms the foundation of rapid and effective response if an unplanned hydrocarbon release should occur.

How to reduce response time when the unthinkable happens

An uncontrolled hydrocarbon release is one of the worst possible scenarios that an operating facility can experience. Not only are the safety barriers compromised, exposing the asset and people to significantly more risk, but the economic, business and environmental consequences can be detrimental.

A closer look at the RWIS design, how it works and the benefits that can be unlocked

Drilling and extraction of hydrocarbons is a complex and risky process, and operators must have robust safety assurance and contingency measures in place to mitigate danger, efficiently respond to any incidents and reduce the personal, business and environmental impact if an uncontrolled release were to occur.

In certain regions of the world, and for some operators, regulations and internal procedures mandate that fields cannot be developed unless the operator can demonstrate that the well can be intercepted and controlled via a single relief well drilling operation, as opposed to multiple relief wells, which is usually the norm.

Preventing a blowout while maximising flow: insights from our EVP of Well Control, Morten Haug Emilsen

Safety is always the number one priority in drilling operations, but this can often impact an operator’s ability to reach their targets and optimize future production. However, there are ways engineers can increase the efficiency of field development and maximise production, without compromising safety.

Relief Well Challenges and Solutions for Subsea Big-Bore Field Developments

Production optimization with less CAPEX is an ever-growing quest for many operators. Not only are operators focused on maximizing flow rates through larger bores, but they want to achieve this with less investment.

Whilst production optimization creates significant cost benefits for a business, it is critical to note that additional risks are introduced when bigger bores are developed. These include, but are not limited to:
